Edgar Allan Poe . Legacy of a tragedy is a rock opera performed by 21 singers and musicians from nearly 50 most important bands in hard rock-speaking. This musical project, led by Joaquín Padilla Jacobo García and (singer and bassist Iguana Tango, respectively), go as the troubled life story and work of American writer Edgar Allan Poe . The topics range from hard rock and heavy metal, with fleeting glimpses characteristic of power metal . After two years of hard work the album was released on December 16, 2008, commemorating the second anniversary of the birth of the writer. The album aims to be the first of a trilogy.
Among the cast of musicians are three keyboardists, three drummers, twenty singers, six bassists and twelve guitars recorded in three studies. Among them, members of Saratoga , Topo , Red Baron, Howitzer , Pielyhueso , Rata Blanca , Ebony Ark , Wizard of Oz and Dark Moor. For the voice actor was elected Leo Jimenez, lead singer of Stratovarius .
In the play is told through two acts, "Twilight" and "Nightfall", the trajectory of Poe (his adventures in the army, his early marriage to her cousin, his wife died because of tuberculosis , his bohemian lifestyle and his death) and two of his famous short stories ( El pozo y el péndulo y El Cuervo ). La historia es relatada de diferentes puntos de vista, incluyendo a personajes antropomórficos como la tuberculosis, la muerte y el talento de Poe. El escritor es representado como una especie de Fausto que vende su alma a la Muerte a cambio de su talento. The story begins in Baltimore cemetery, burial place of the writer. There, the undertaker comes across a black cat that talks and complains that he is the reincarnated spirit of Poe and that's going to tell her story in order to try to free his soul.
